PART SIX
“He definitely heard you call it a date.” Carmen spoke through the phone as Blake cleaned up her mess around Lewis’ condo before he came back home. She wanted to leave it in better condition from when she arrived. It had been one week since Max had taken her to his secret spot and the two had been inseparable, up until this moment. She loved being in his company, getting to know him beyond being the dick that she was convinced hated her, beyond Kelly and beyond being a World Champion race car driver. He had so many quirks and tidbits about him that Blake found herself admiring, thinking about when she was all alone.
“No, no. It definitely slipped out but he didn’t say anything about it.” Carmen scoffed through the phone and Blake could just picture her best female friend rolling her eyes playfully. Of course she never saw Max’s reaction when she let the word slip but she can’t imagine he was paying that much attention to her, or she gathered he was just assuming she meant a friendly date, she did mean that right? “Besides, nothing will ever come of it. It’s like a twisted Romeo and Juliette. I work for his biggest rival team an-”
“And what, Blake?” Carmen questioned making Blake take a quick break from her frantic cleaning and listen to what she had to say. “What could be the worst thing that could happen? You already have fan pages you know. Do you like Max?” Blake didn’t find herself searching for an answer, she already knew. She obviously knew where Max stood with his feelings and he was very respectful with giving Blake all the time and space she needed before anything would ever eventuate but Blake was certain there was some attraction there. Okay, maybe a bit more than some, more like a lot.
“But what will the boys think? What will Toto think?” The boys were referring to Lewis and George, Max’s biggest rivals. She was also afraid that if she was to engage in anything with Max that it might jeopardise her career though everyone knew she was a vital part of the Mercedes team.
“They can all learn to deal with it if they truly value you. Besides, they would all want you to be happy, no matter who the other person was.” Blake found herself strolling onto the balcony where she sat down on a chair, looking out over the sea. Boats and yachts were coming in and out of the port and she could only imagine what that would be like, to sail away and enjoy the sun warming her skin. She was heading back to her home in England the following day, all of her bags already packed. She would have to get a bus to Nice in France and then a flight from Nice to London. From there she would pick up her car from the airport and drive to Brackley where she had her apartment, only a few minutes from the Formula One base. It would be a long day of travel, that's for sure. “Hey babes, it’ll all work out. Do whatever feels right.”
“I will, thank you. Listen, I have to go, I have to finish cleaning the house for Lewis before I head home tomorrow.”
“Let me know if anything changes, I’m always here.” The two girls bid their farewell, Carmen hanging up after sending kissing sounds through the phone leaving Blake to giggle at her friend. She was left to her lonesome now in Lewis’ condo. She knew she could easily message Max now that they had each other's phone numbers but she also needed time to sort of process her own feelings, figure out where her head was at.
The past few days had been amazing; Max showed her his favourite places in Monaco and surrounding, took her out for breakfast, lunch and dinner, invited her over to his condo to watch a movie or a TV show or have a cocktail night where they could dress in their pyjamas. He was extremely respectful, working on getting to know Blake whilst she enjoyed her time one-on-one with him.
Max had reached for his phone a number of times before finally deciding against it. He knew that Blake was leaving the next day and wanted to give her some space so she could relax a little before but it took every ounce of his being not to just send her one simple message. He knew that the time they spent together for the past few days would probably be the most amount of time they will spend together one-on-one for a long time as they start the prep for the new racing season but he just felt so mellow and himself around her.
He still received communication from Kelly every now and then asking for him to take her back or trying to guilt him by using Penelope as a pawn which made Max feel quite disgusted but he was strong. He is in love with Blake, and nothing and no one would ever change his mind.
*   *   *
Blake made it through security with ease which was a relief given the fact that she had a restless sleep the night before. There was just something that was keeping her up which was annoying as she spent most of the day prior cleaning Lewis’ house and making him a vegan slice for him to come home to. The drive from Monaco to Nice was dark, reminding her of when Max drove her an hour away to show her a sunrise like no other, but it was peaceful. The shuttle to the airport had several other tourists; a trio of young girls most likely on a gap year, an older couple with the man sleeping on his wife’s shoulder and a small family. Her flight wasn’t for another few hours so she had time to get a coffee and relax at her gate before it was time to leave.
She had her carry-on bag over her shoulder, her earphones in and a double shot coffee in her hand as she strolled through duty-free and back to her gate. Blake was recognised by some Formula One fans and happily waved, said a brief hello or even took a photo with them but she was beating herself up about not wearing something a little bit more fashionable. She would choose comfort over fashion any day of the week. It’s not that she looked terrible but she didn’t want to look at tagged photos of her wearing baggy sweatpants that were tighter around her thighs and waist than her calves or see her shirt bunched up at the back but appear oversized from the front. She was highly insecure about it but was working on trying to not let it get to her.
As one song changed into another she heard a slight fuss but chose to ignore it. She was itching to get to her gate so she could sit down, get her book out of her bag and just read until it was time to board her flight. The airport was starting to become busy as time wore on, Blake settled into a chair in the middle of her area at the gate and watched fondly as travellers passed her by. She liked to create different stories for them such as where they were going, why they were travelling and so forth.
Blake was interrupted by a shadow casting over her as a stranger moved closer, gesturing to the seats near her. She briefly looked up at the man, noticing his cap and face mask and nodded whilst her music continued to play, assuming he was going to take the seat a couple down from her even though there was ample space at her gate. Instead, he sat down in the seat beside her, nodding at her before looking forward, toying with something in a backpack that was placed beside him on another seat to the right of him. Blake was caught off guard, feeling slightly uncomfortable yet didn’t make a big deal out of it as she didn’t want any sort of drama.
She was about to get her phone out of her pocket to get ready to message someone to make it look like she was busy or had people waiting for her incase worse comes to worse and this man had ill intentions. Instead, the man pulled out two flowers and sat them in his lap; a sunflower and a rose, both fake for the sake of security. Blake watched from her peripheral vision and felt her heart start to race.
Max’s hands were clammy as he held the two fake flowers in his lap, his cap hiding his gaze and his face mask shielding most of his face. He couldn’t let Blake fly back to England without him getting a chance to say goodbye and honestly he wasn’t too sure what he would say if everything was going to go to plan. It was immensely cliche and he knew that Checo would probably tease him about it, or anyone would tease him about it when word eventually got out about his romantic gesture but here he was.
Blake found herself taking her earphones out and placing them carefully in her case before turning to the man beside her.
“If this is some sick jok-”
“It’s me.” The voice was familiar. It calmed Blake as soon as she heard his accent. He gained some attention as he removed his hat and face mask revealing Max underneath. He had a nervous look on his face but Blake felt herself sigh with relief. At least now she knew it wasn’t some strange man that had been stalking her.
“What are you doing here?” They weren’t yet at the point of wishing each other good mornings or good nights every day but the two would easily fall into a conversation via text or social media every day. As far as Blake was concerned, Max should still be in bed, lapping up all the free time he had before he was to start his training regime and then start to focus on the upcoming season. He most definitely shouldn’t be here in an airport with Blake and he most definitely should not be seeing Blake when she wasn’t as put together as she would have liked. “It’s barely even six in the morning.”
She noticed that some people were beginning to notice that Max Verstappen was sitting at an airport gate with the general public but he paid them no mind and everyone else seemed to understand that he was busy right now. That and it was early in the morning. Blake was no stranger to early mornings, or lack of sleep, so this was rather normal for her. Of course she was tired hence the coffee but she was functioning.
“I couldn’t let you go back home without saying goodbye.” Max cringed at the fact that he sounded so dramatic but Blake’s heart just pounded in her chest.
“You have my phone number and all my socials.” Blake chuckled, crossing one leg over the other and leaned against her arm rest towards Max. Max noticed this and remembered seeing something online that if someone’s body faced you during a conversation or in general that it meant they were focused on you, you had their attention. He was suddenly nervous. She was right, he did have many ways to contact her but in all honesty he just had to see her in person before the two of them both got extremely busy.
“I know but,” Max began to trail off, thinking of what to say. He had practised in his bedroom that morning, whilst making the booking for the same flight. He added different emphases on words on his drive to the airport, bought two fake flowers impulsively after posing for several photos once he got out of security and bought a brand new hat and face mask to surprise Blake. And now he sat beside her at a loss for words. “These are for you.” He held out the sunflower and rose and hoped she wouldn’t notice how clammy his hands were when she took them. “They're fake, as you can tell.” He mentally slapped himself in the face, of course she could tell. “I don’t think you can take real flowers on a flight but they last longer. God, that makes me sound like a wanker.” Max’s face was flushed red as Blake giggled, the flowers pinched between two fingers as she touched her forehead to his bicep with a grin on her face. At least he was making her laugh.
“You’re absolutely right, you cannot take flowers on public. I cannot comment on private flights though. I would say you're the expert in that.” Blake went back to her normal position before looking back to Max. Max seemed to ease a little more as she spoke and he felt less guilty about not knowing more about flying publicly. “What I really mean is what are you doing here? Past security and everything.”
“I have never felt more at ease or at home than I had this past week. And before you say anything I know you want to start off as friends and I am absolutely okay with that I really am. Plus, I have never been to Brackley before.” Blake’s eyes softened as she looked up at Max, the man turning his head to return her gaze. Brackley was where her apartment was located and where the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 based was. She was surprised Max had remembered where her new home was. Though, it was hardly a home as she had only spent no more than two months staying in it since she started her new job with Mercedes and Toto. “I know I should have mentioned something. It was all rather last minute and I thought it would be a movie like romantic gesture but I really should have asked if it was okay with you.”
“Max, it’s okay.” Blake placed an arm on his bicep as a form of comfort. “I just wish you told me so I could help you navigate through security and everything. I bet you haven't done that in a long time, you know, since you have a private jet.” She teased Max, chuckling before rolling his eyes. “Just one thing.”
“Yes, of course. Anything.” Blake thought back to her conversation with Carmen on the phone the day previous. She thought about everything that had happened in the past year from fights and assumptions that Max hated her and working with Kelly to the confession, a new job and relocation, new friends that were a found family. He patiently awaited her answer, the one thing she was asking of him. He would do anything in a heartbeat.
“Take me on a date. A date date.” That he can do.

Ever since Win Lewis started working at the Hawkins Community Pool, Billy couldn't seem to pay attention to anything else.
The bored housewives who always watched him from their lounge chairs hated how distracted he’d become–he didn't even try to hide how he looked at her with his eyes full of desire.
"Lewis! Cleaning duty today," Billy called as they were about to close for the night.
Win groaned, rolling her eyes. “I did it yesterday, it’s your turn, Billy,” she huffed, fixing him with a pointed look, her hands resting on her hips as she stared him down from across the storage room.
"No chance, I have a date," he lied.  He just wanted to make her a little jealous. Every day watching her in her little red swimsuit was torture, even more when she was so good at playing hard to get.
Win’s mouth fell open for a moment, her stomach doing a flip at his words and she quickly smoothed her expression, not wanting him to know he’d struck a nerve. “What a coincidence, I have a date too, with Steve Harrington,” she said with a shrug, knowing just the mention of Steve’s name would get under Billy’s skin.
"Harrington, huh? I see..." Billy's expression turned sour, he couldn't help but wonder if she was just trying to mess with him or if it was true. "If we both have dates, maybe we can clean up together then, so we finish quicker,” he suggested.
Win deliberated for a moment, letting her gaze linger on Billy’s smooth tanned chest before slipping lower down his toned stomach to his bright red swim trunks and muscular thighs before her eyes snapped back up to his. “Alright, sounds like a deal,” she said, glad her little fib worked. All she wanted was for him to carry his weight. It had nothing whatsoever to do with her wanting to possibly spend more time with him.
Billy noticed how her eyes wandered and it made him feel a little more confident. If the date she’d scheduled with Harrington was real, he'd make sure she never made it, getting stuck there at the pool with him instead.
"Alright, I'm gonna lock the gates and you close the umbrellas. Then we can take care of the floor together," he said, giving her plenty of time to watch as he left, spinning the key chain around his finger.
Win's lips crooked as she took advantage of his exit, biting her lip as she watched his backside for a moment before following, stepping out into the warm dusk to close the pool umbrellas and make sure they were secured shut.
Billy closed the gates, taking his time as he watched her from afar. By the time he came back, they were the only two people left there. "Alright, ready?" He offered her one of the mops he brought out with a bucket of soapy water.
"I hate mopping," Win sighed, but took the mop handle, dipping the mop head into the sudsy water before bending over to wring the excess water out.
Billy smirked when he watched the scene, it was like she was moving in slow motion... she was too beautiful not to be a dream. "Me too, I'm not here cause I want to," he scoffed, wetting his mop to start on his side of the pool.
“So… who’s the lucky girl you’re taking out tonight?” Win asked, trying to sound as nonchalant as possible as she returned to the bucket for more soapy water.
"You don't know her, she graduated with me last year, her name’s… Danielle," Billy said the first thing that came to mind, also trying to sound nonchalant. "She was always after me, so I decided to give her a chance."
Win let out a snort. “Uh huh, throw her a bone, ey? How kind of you,” she said, her voice dripping sarcasm. “You’re such a gentleman, Hargrove.”
"That's what I'm known for... as if you're not throwing Harrington a bone. You're way out of his league, he's been trying to get any girl to go out with him this summer and you're the first one to say yes."
Win rolled her eyes as she mopped closer, quickly running out of floor. “And whose league am I in?” she wondered, fighting not to smirk and give herself away.
"Better looking guys, smarter guys for sure... you know, guys who know more books than just Green Eggs and Ham," Billy chuckled as they finally stood face to face. "Someone who can satisfy you."
“Why do I get the feeling you think that’s you?” Win asked, raising a skeptical eyebrow at him as she propped a hand on her hip and leaned against the mop handle.
"Do you want it to be?" Billy smirked, making an exaggerated move to fix his hair just to get an excuse to flex his bicep for her.
Win rolled her eyes.  “Hmmm, I dunno, Steve is awful sweet,” she mused, smirking at him.
"Pfft I can be sweet... to people who deserve it," Billy scoffed.
“People like… Danielle?” Win ventured, bending to pick up the mop bucket.
"Shyeah, people like her, who can appreciate a real man," Billy stepped closer to her until they were inches apart.
Win’s grin faltered as he moved closer. This close she could smell his cologne over the fainter scent of chlorine. He must have refreshed his cologne sometime after their shift ended and before they started mopping. Her breath caught in her throat as her eyes met his, a brilliant blue that sparkled like he knew something she didn’t. Before she could get sucked in further, she shook her mop at him, getting him wet before slipping past him.
"Hey! What was that for?" Billy exclaimed, following her to the other side. "You wanna get me wet? Fine then, let's get real wet..." Without warning Billy wrapped his arms around her and did a kamikaze jump into the pool, taking her with him.
Win’s surprised shriek cut off as she hit the water and she gasped as she broke the surface, pushing her wet hair from her face. “Billy!” she cried, slapping her hand across the water to splash him as soon as he emerged.
"What? You started it!" Billy splashed her right back, trying very hard not to laugh at the anger on her face; she looked so cute when she was angry. "As a Brit, you should know us Americans do war better than anyone else, so don't provoke us," he warned, cocking an eyebrow at her.
Win stuck her tongue out at him. “Yeah, only cause you play dirty,” she countered, daring to swim closer.
"How dare you!" Billy gasped, resisting the urge to splash her again, deciding to poke her sides instead.
Win let out a yelp and tried to squirm away, though the water made it hard to move quickly enough. “Billy! That tickles!” she gasped breathlessly.
"Good, you deserve it!" he laughed, unrelenting, wrapping one arm around her so she couldn't escape.
“Billy!” Win exclaimed through her laughter, giving up and melting into his embrace, his body firm against hers. “You’re a menace!” she insisted, smacking his chest lightly.
"What? You can dish it out, but you can't take it?" Billy chuckled, pulling her even closer, trapping her against his chest.
“I can take it,” Win countered insistently, running her fingers over his ribs.
Billy suddenly stopped and looked down at her, he couldn't keep the smile from his face. "You... you don't have a date with Harrington, do you?"
Win chewed her lip, quickly averting her face so Billy wouldn’t notice the pink that dusted her cheeks. “I… I may have just said that to get a rise out of you,” she admitted, trying to keep her voice light.
"Well... I... I might've made up my date too," he admitted, gently turning her face back to him. "And I lied when I said I'm not here cause I want to be. I want to."
Win’s eyes found his and she froze, her lips parting as she watched him, breath catching at how beautiful he looked with the water dripping from his hair and the setting sun sparkling in his bright blue eyes that were fixed unwavering on her face. “Good,” she finally breathed, wetting her lips. “I’m glad you’re here.”
Billy couldn't stop staring at her, she had stormy eyes that captured his gaze and her skin was so soft, he just wanted to kiss her all over. "I'm glad too," he murmured, looking down at her plump cherry lips. He couldn't hold back, he leaned in and stole a kiss, a long and gentle kiss.
As soon as Billy’s lips touched hers, Win melted, her eyes slipping shut as she kissed him back, her arms emerging from the water to wend around his shoulders, pressing herself tighter against him.
"Maybe I should be doing more cleaning duty," Billy breathed before kissing her again, deeply this time and more passionately.
“Or maybe… you should just ask me out,” Win murmured breathlessly, glad for Billy’s arms around her and the buoyancy of the water, lest her knees gave way.
"I guess that works,” he chuckled huskily.  “Wanna have dinner with me, Winnie?" Billy whispered in her ear. "I can pick you up."
Win couldn’t help but grin as his breath tickled her ear and a shiver ran through her. “Sounds good. What time?” she asked, tilting her head to catch his eye.
"I'll pick you up at seven," Billy finally let go of her, wanting to leave her wanting more. "Just can't guarantee what time you'll be back..."
Win huffed a soft laugh. “I see,” she murmured, flushed and wanting to keep kissing him. “Guess I better get home and change,” she teased, a grin playing at her lips as she swam toward the edge of the pool, lifting herself out easily and adjusting her suit as she watched Billy glide over.
"Really? I wouldn't mind if you came in your swimsuit," Billy joked, pushing himself out of the pool as well and shaking his wet hair. "Actually, on second thought, I wouldn't want anyone else to stare."
“You wanna be the only one to stare at me?” Win teased, tucking her damp hair behind her ears.
"Yeah, I wanna be the only one," Billy smirked and gave her a wink, his hand placed on his chest.
“Too bad this is my work uniform,” Win quipped, grinning wryly.
"I guess... as long as you're okay with the ladies checking me out too," Billy teased.
“Hmm, I dunno about that,” she mused, going to grab her towel. “But maybe I will be once they know you’re taken,” she said offhandedly, though hope bloomed in her chest at the thought.
Billy’s grin grew even wider at the idea.  He’d never really had a serious girlfriend before, but for Win?  He was willing to try and make it work. "Didn't know you were so possessive..."
“I’m sure there’s a lot you don’t know about me,” Win said, pulling her shorts over her suit once she’d dried off. “But maybe I can start filling you in tonight.”
She flashed him a genuine smile. “See you seven, don’t be late,” she reminded him with a wink before turning to head to the front door, leaving him to lock up.
Billy watched her unabashedly, looking like the cat that got the cream. His little plan had worked way better than he’d expected.  He couldn't wait to have her all to himself that night and taste her lips again, he couldn't wait to be able to tell anyone who asked that he was taken.

Moth to a Flame
Tumblr media
Pairing: Lewis Tan x Black!OC (Ophelia) x Henry Cavill RPF
(Based on the song “Moth To A Flame” by Swedish House Mafia & The Weeknd)
Content Warnings: Minors DNI, 18+ smut, mentions of a miscarriage, infidelity, mental abuse, emotional abuse, depiction of sexual acts, manipulative behavior, gaslighting, strong language. (Might become a series, idk yet 🤷🏾‍♀️)
[Two years earlier]
“Well what the fuck do you want me to do Ophelia?! I can’t just drop everything at a moment’s notice!” Lewis bellowed across the room.
“You can if your girlfriend is miscarrying your baby! I was alone in that hospital room, Lewis!” Ophelia matched his volume.
“I was by myself in that room, could you even fathom how terrifying that is?! A Black woman alone in the hospital, losing her baby and having to answer questions in the mental state that I am in!” She glared at Lewis as he hung his head down, not saying a word as his fists dug into the marble kitchen island. Causing his fists to turn white.
Ophelia scoffs at him and crosses her arms. “Of course you don’t, because you can only think about your damn self! God forbid you take a moment from your career to actually be there for me! That would be just too fucking much for you.”
Lewis slammed his fist into the island causing Ophelia to jump up from the sudden action.
“Well, it’s not my fucking fault you lost the damn baby! So stop putting all this on me Goddammit!” he angrily retorted.
Ophelia’s rage converted to sadness by her boyfriend’s venomous statement.
“So you’re saying it’s my fault then?!? Is that what you’re telling me?” Her eyes began to well up.
Lewis’ face softened as his eyebrows rose and his mouth was left ajar as he realized the damage his words made. He walked around the counter to quickly console the love of his life. But Ophelia pushed him away as her tears silently stream down her face.
“Opi, I-I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean th-” Lewis was cut off by her.
Her tone dramatically softened as she spoke with her head lowered and her arms crossed. “This isn’t working anymore Lew. I’m always left alone when you’re gone and whenever you’re here, we always end up fighting. This isn’t healthy, and it damn sure wouldn’t be any better if a child was involved…”
“B-but couples fight all the time. We can get through this, I-I’ll spend more time with you, I’ll get you th-that dog you always thought was cute, I-I’ll be better for I-I-I swear…” Lewis pleads frantically.
Ophelia looked up with her tears staining her makeup, she took a deep breath as she wiped the tear streaks with her sleeve before she continued.
“I think we should see other people, Lewis.” Ophelia’s words hit Lewis like a barrage of bullets, he dreaded the thought of losing Ophelia especially at their most vulnerable point in time.
“You don’t mean that, n-no you don’t mean that Opi. You’re upset, I get it. We both said horrible things to each other, but we always work them out…we always pull through.” Lewis slowly stepped toward Ophelia.
“No we don't Lewis, by the time the fighting could be ‘over’, you’re gone again. The situation was never truly fixed, it was left right here until you come back. Then you deflect and deflect until you have to leave again. I can’t keep doing this, we can’t keep doing this. It’s taking a toll on you too, I can see it in your face. We can’t keep hurting each other.” Ophelia wiped her tears away.
“Opi, please…don’t do this. We can go to counseling, I’ll go on hiatus, we can work on this together. I can bring you with me to set, I’ll do anything just please reconsider.” Lewis had both hands on Ophelia’s shoulders as he stared into her tear filled eyes while simultaneously holding back his.
Ophelia looked up at Lewis's face and shook her head. “It’s way too late for that. I thought that this baby would make things better for us, get you more involved, but it’s more of the same. We are in each other’s way and we need to heal from each other and just…move on. I’ll send someone to come get my things.”
Lewis was taken aback as Ophelia walked out the door for the last time. Lewis ran his fingers through his hair as he sunk into the kitchen island. “FUCK!” he yelled as he swiped the ceramic plates and wine glasses off the counter causing them to break. Unbeknownst to him, Ophelia was right behind the door. But the crashing sounds only confirmed that she made the right choice and she walked away from his door and out of his life forever.
[Present day - Ophelia]
“Ophelia? Ophelia Childs?!” Ophelia heard a woman call out her name causing her to turn around.
“Oh my God, Stephanie!” Ophelia walked up and hugged her longtime friend Stephanie Morrison.
“Look at you! You look so good! What has it been 5-6 years?!” Stephanie proceeded.
“That sounds about right, give or take. You’re looking absolutely gorgeous, how have you been? What’s been going on?” Ophelia replied.
“Y’know just busy with life and my photography. I just came back from Indonesia last week for Vogue. You know I love landscapes, but Vogue pays the bills so, gotta go where the money resides. I know you know girl.” Stephanie giggled.
“I feel you 100%, I was just telling my boyfriend the other day that as much as I can’t stand marketing, sometimes it’s the best thing for me until I get to where I need to be.” Ophelia shrugged.
“Boyfriend?! You mean Lewis still hasn’t popped the question yet?! As long as you two been together, I thought he would’ve at least put a ring on it or something!” Stephanie scoffed.
Lewis’s name made Ophelia’s ears burn as she heard it. It visibly shifted her whole mood as she tucked in her lips before she spoke.
“Umm, me and Lewis broke up. I’m not with him anymore.” She sheepishly corrected Stephanie.
“O-oh Philly, Philly I’m so sorry. I-I didn’t know.” Stephanie placed her hand on her chest.
“It’s fine, it was so long ago. I haven’t heard from him since, so it’s all good. Besides, I love Henry. He has helped me get through some rough times after Lewis so I’m thankful for that. Hey, you should come to our anniversary party next week. I would love for you to come and we can properly catch up.” Ophelia smoothly changed the subject.
“I would love to, let’s exchange numbers and you can text me the time and date.” Stephanie pulled out her phone.
“Aight, so my phone number is 213-555-0726.” Ophelia replied.
“I’ll send a text and we’re all set.” Stephanie smiled.
“Got it! Well, it’s been nice to see you mami. It’s been too long.” Ophelia smiled back.
“Way too long, I can’t wait to meet Henry.” Stephanie spoke in a deep octave and dramatically flipped her hair back.
Ophelia laughed. “Girl, you’re stupid. I’ll see you next week.”
Both women embraced each other and walked their separate ways.
[A week later]
“Thank you all for coming, dinner will commence shortly we just need everyone to take their seats and we will begin.” The event coordinator announced.
“Here you go sir.” She went to hand a gentleman a menu, but he turned it down.
His suit was freshly pressed, his somewhat slender frame did not hide his protruding muscles relaxed under his attire. His exposed gold chains glinted under the warm lights as a reminder of his opened top button on his dress shirt. He walked his way over to the end of the table, flicked away his reserved seat sign and slid into his seat. Lewis was chewing on a toothpick as he watched the other guests speak amongst each other. As all the other guests settled in their seats, Ophelia turned her head slightly and paused when she saw Lewis staring right back at her, her expression was like a deer caught in headlights. Her lip slightly quivered, not even noticing that Stephanie noticed Lewis' presence too. Causing Ophelia's friend to look back and forth between them.
“Oh shit.” Stephanie replied under her breath as she sipped Moët slowly from her champagne glass.
Henry clearing his throat broke their trance as she looked up at him.
“Greetings ladies and gentlemen, I want to thank everyone for coming this evening for the anniversary of me and Ophelia’s relationship. Sometimes it doesn’t feel real to me that someone so beautiful, intelligent, and thoughtful could be by my side for as long as she has. But I’m glad…no blessed to be with her and I don’t want wait any longer to show this amazing woman how much she means to me so…” Henry got down on one knee and took out a small box that exposed a large diamond ring. Ophelia was visibly shaking as she stared at the large diamond.
“You gotta be shitting me.” Lewis spoke under his breath.
Henry was completely oblivious to Lewis' snide remark as he continued. “Ophelia Jhené Childs, you are an extraordinary woman and the best thing that has ever come into my life. I can’t imagine taking a single breath, let alone spend a single day without you by my side. If you please do me the honor of becoming my wife, I will protect you, cherish you, you will never want for anything, I would bring you the entire world and several galaxies over to you cause you deserve so much. In other words, Sweetheart, will you marry me?”
Ophelia nodded rapidly as tears came out of her eyes. “Yes, yes! Yes!”
They both stood up and kissed each other as they both were overcome with emotion. The only one in the room not clapping and cheering was Lewis. He was visibly irritated by what he characterized as a spectacle. He slid out of his seat and walked off with both hands in his pockets. No one noticed his disapproval, except Stephanie. She got up and followed Lewis out of the room.
Lewis made a sharp turn into a corridor leading towards the exit, he took out his toothpick and without looking, he flicked it straight into a trash can and replaced his hand back into his pocket.
“Well you got some damn nerve to show up here and then just leave.” Stephanie called him out.
Lewis stopped in his tracks, took a deep breath, and turned around plastering a fake smile before he spoke. “Stephanie, how have you b-”
“Don’t be fucking fake! Why in the hell are you here?” Stephanie cut him off.
Lewis’ smile drops from his face as he scoffs at her. “Y’know, it’s real funny how you haven’t even reached out to Ophelia for years, but all of a sudden you wanna act like her best friend now.”
Stephanie placed her hands on her hips and scowled at Lewis. “Look here! I’m grown, I don’t have to explain my friendship with Philly to nobody. Especially you! If you even think of trying to kill my girl’s happiness, I’ll-”
“Stephanie, I got this.” Ophelia intervened.
“Philly, you should be with your man having your moment right n-” Stephanie looked into Ophelia’s face and recognized her seriousness.
“Fine! I hope she fucking kicks you out like the piece of shit you are, come mierda.” Stephanie walks off, continuing to cuss Lewis out in Spanish and glaring at him one last time before she was out of sight.
Lewis looked back at Ophelia and began to speak. “That Stephanie…she always had a mouth on h–”
“The fuck are you doing here Lewis?” His ex cut him off.
“Wow! You really think me coming here was about you?” Lewis quipped.
“Answer the fucking question, I don’t have all night.” Ophelia crossed her arms.
Lewis smirked as he passed his tongue over his bottom teeth behind his bottom lip and walked up to Ophelia’s face. Ophelia’s back straightened up, but she will not budge from her spot. Her pride dominated over her perturbation.
Lewis was now mere inches from her face. He had a few drinks before he came, she could faintly pick up the aroma. “Well…Opi–”
“You don’t get to call me that, those days are long gone.” Ophelia leaned away from Lewis with her arms still crossed.
“Are they now? Well…Ophelia, I am actually casted in a movie with your new– your new– um…” Lewis snaps his fingers, feigning ignorance.
“MY FIANCÉ!” Ophelia exclaimed in irritation.
“Right, right.” Lewis nodded his head. "And he invited all of the cast here, I'm shocked you didn't know that." He taunted Ophelia.
“You were on your way out the door right? There you go, just order an Uber first. I can smell the liquor on your breath.” Ophelia turned around and began to walk off.
He smirked and shook his head. “One thing before you go…Ophelia.” Lewis swiftly, but gently grabbed her hand drawing her. He tautly pressed her body against his.
Ophelia’s body didn’t respond quickly enough for her to resist him as she should. Even with the faint smell of liquor on his breath, his cologne infused with his body heat intoxicated her.
Lewis had one hand on the small of her back, the other traveled underneath the slit of her evening gown and right between her thighs. Ophelia clenched them as she tried to keep him from going any further.
Lewis lowered his head and grazed Ophelia’s ear with his soft lips. Her breath quickened as he spoke. “Does he know what we know?”
Lewis peppered kisses from her jawline, down to her neck, and down to her collarbone. That last spot made Ophelia give in and now his two long, thick digits were slowly pumping in and out of her in the middle of the venue hallway.
“Please. I-I- can’t. Not-t-t an-anymore.” Ophelia’s slurred words fell on deaf, lustful ears.
Lewis backed Ophelia against a door, opened it, and it was revealed to be a large coat closet. Lewis moved his other hand from her back to around her throat. His large hand nearly wrapped all around it as the pace of his fingers accelerated.
Ophelia’s hands was clawing at Lewis’ arm, her nails left several scratches, but he was unphased by her resistance.
She clenched her thighs in an attempt to keep him from making her climax. Ophelia’s eyes rolled into the back of her head as he still climaxed on Lewis’ hand.
“Does he know I can make you do that any time I want and you’d let me?” Lewis released his grip around Ophelia’s throat and with his underhand, squeezed the sides of her cheeks until her mouth opened. He started slowly putting his drenched fingers into her mouth and down her throat.
“Does he know that your pussy only tastes this sweet when I make your cum? Huh? Does he?” Lewis taunted more.
Ophelia shook her head in response. “Yeah, that’s what I thought.” Lewis replied as he took his fingers out of her mouth
Ophelia could hear Lewis’ belt unbuckle and she tried to stop him from pulling himself out. He looks intensely into her eyes, it was a look she was all too familiar with. The same look he gave her the night of their previous conception. Ophelia drew Lewis in and kissed him passionately on his lips. She feverishly ran her fingers through his hair and he kissed her back, their tongues performing a forbidden dance of lust and betrayal.
Ophelia became carnally desperate with each moment. She pulled out Lewis’ cock, his erection was long, thick, and heavy as it was left throbbing in her hand. Lewis looked down as she stroked him, she meticulously switched rhythms just like she did the last time they fucked.
“Don’t act like you’re new to this, get on your knees and put it in your mouth.” Lewis hissed.
Ophelia slowly kneeled to the floor and took Lewis into her mouth. The all too familiar warm and wet sensation sent shivers down his spine. “Xìngjiāo…fuck!” Lewis growled as she took him even deeper.
The lewd noises from Ophelia’s mouth made Lewis become animalistic, he grabbed a hold of Ophelia’s hair and began thrusting himself deeper down her throat. Ophelia was gagging and had a death grip on his thighs as he fucked her face. What took her makeup artist and hairdresser several hours to accomplish was undone in a matter of minutes.
Ophelia pushed her hands against Lewis’ thighs to create distance. Lewis slowly exited from her mouth, their fluids stained her glowing brown chest. Ophelia’s lips were glistening, but her lip gloss has long been smudged off since their kiss. Lewis bent down passionately kissed her and hiked up her dress as he lifted her off the ground to press her against the wall.
They began kissing again as Lewis took his hard dick in his hand and rubbed it against Ophelia’s clit. She loudly moaned into his mouth as he began to fill her desperately aching pussy. Her wetness coated him from tip to hilt, the moment Lewis entered her it felt like ecstasy.
With only Ophelia’s panties pushed to the side, Lewis thrusted hard and deep inside of her. His tender kisses turned into him suckling on her lower neck. Ophelia fought back her moans and fought harder against her approaching orgasm. She knew that Henry never pleased her body like Lewis can. But Henry was a safe, he was always there for her, and she's now repaying him with a cheap fuck in a coat closet with her toxic ass ex.
Before Ophelia could come to her senses, Lewis let out a deep, guttural growl as he came inside of her. Lewis exited her body and zipped himself up. Ophelia fixed her panties and straightened up her dress. Lewis gave Ophelia one last look up and down before he left the closet.
“Wait!” Ophelia called out to Lewis as she grabbed his arm.
Lewis stopped in his tracks and turned towards Ophelia.
“What is it Ophelia? Do you want to ‘talk’? Do you want to tell me how this is a ‘mistake’ and you're in love with Henry? You want me to keep this shit a secret like I have been for the past year and a half? Don’t worry, I still won’t say shit. But don’t start acting like you’re some kind of victim here. Better yet, don’t act like this is some fucked up form of ‘closure’ just because you’re fucking engaged now!” Lewis spewed his venom at her.
“Are you fucking kidding me?!” Ophelia hissed, then she continued.
Ophelia glared at him. “I spent the last year trying to be rid of you and move on. But every time I want to, you bring up all this old shit. And I–”
“What old shit Opi?!” Lewis crossed his arms.
“You aren’t supposed to call me that.” Ophelia scowled.
“What old shit?! You left ME, remember? You came back a whole 6 months later talking about wanting ‘closure’, next thing I know you’re sucking me off on our couch. Just to leave me straight after and it’s been that way ever since. I’m not your backup dick for when Mr. Wonderful out there can’t make you cum!” Lewis scoffed as he shook his head before he continued.
“I would tell you to stay with him, but he doesn’t deserve the fucking train wreck that’s you.” Lewis breathed in Ophelia’s face before he left, slamming the closet door behind him.
Ophelia was overwhelmed with emotions as she sobbed uncontrollably with her hand over her mouth while she sank to the floor. Regardless of how much his words hurt, Lewis was right. Regardless of how much she loved Henry she couldn’t let Lewis go. Like a moth to a flame, she couldn’t stay away.

Sin Ti // Angel Reyes ft. Dominic Lee Part 2
Tumblr media
Angel Reyes x Solana Losa (OC)
Dominic Lee (OC) x Solana Losa
2.45k
This took a bit of a 360 turn.A lil angst, a lil drama and because I couldn’t stop typing once I started...there’s a part 3 to this but it’ll come out after Ez’s part drops. Angel is a bit of an asshole, Dominic is a bit smug and Solana is no longer the woman Angel thought she was or maybe she’d always been that way?
Enjoy! Feedback is welcomed and please reblog, like y’all don’t understand how much that means to creators on here.
Unedited.
Four months later
Angel stared at the ultrasound pictures laid out on his coffee table. It has been a total of seven months since everything blew up in his face and to say he wasn’t coping well was an understatement. Angel had reverted to his shallow fuck- anything- with- a -pulse self with everyone walking on eggshells around him. Even as he sat staring at the pictures, there was a woman in his bed fast asleep.
Angel had tried talking to Solana but she had Vega playing bodyguard and Angel knew better than to mess with Vega because even though she could handle herself, her big brother Rio was another story by himself. He had no idea when Solana had left Santo Padre but he knew that his heart had left right along with her.
This was the second set of ultrasound pictures he’d gotten and if he was being honest, they were the only thing giving him hope that Solana would come back to him.
Adelita had shown up out of the blue, caught him in a rather compromising position and then proceeded to tell him that the baby had died. He didn’t know whether to believe her or not because Potter had told him something completely different including the fact that her baby was a Reyes. Maybe Solana had lied to him but he could see past that and forgive her because she’d done the same for him numerous times.
If only she would just come home.
Tumblr media
Solana smiled as she took in the scene before her, it had been a year and six months since she had left Santo Padre and quite honestly she didn’t feel like going back. Her uncle had told her that it was best for her to stay on the other side for a bit while things blew over but what was supposed to be five months had become more.
In that time she’d given birth to a healthy baby girl who she had named Cataleya Marísol Reyes. She had also met a man who made her feel love and happiness to an extent she didn’t think was possible. Sol had come to realize that while she had love for Angel, she was no longer in love with him. She had given so much of herself to Angel without the same effort being reciprocated that she didn’t know what to do with herself when she got a man who did.
Dominic Lee was the man Bishop had entrusted his niece’s safety to while she was on the other side. Their families had a long history and Bishop knew that if anyone would keep her and her baby safe it would be the Lee’s. The Lee’s were an immigrant family from China, how they ended up in Santo Padre, Bishop didn’t have a clue but Dominic’s grandfather was the first Asian man to be a part of the Santo Padre charter. His father, much like Ez, had a lot of book and street smarts. He had gotten into a school on the other side, started a successful business and would occasionally help the charters getting shipments in and out of Mexico.
Dominic had continued his father's legacy in both aspects of business and as much as Bishop respected and cared for Angel, he never liked the relationship that had bloomed between him and Sol. He had warned her on numerous occasions that even if Angel cared about her it would end in heartbreak. Seeing his niece happy was the only thing that mattered most to Bishop and if that meant encouraging Dominic to make a move on Solana…then maybe that's exactly what he did.
"So…you and Dominic? How'd that happen?" Vega questions as they both look on at Dominic, Ez and Rio playing with baby Leya who already had them all wrapped around her little fingers.
"Honestly V, I don't fucking know. It feels like it all happened so fast, like one minute he's showing me to the guest room and the next he's rearranging my insides cause my hormones were off the wall. He makes it easy…"
Vega gives her a look that says to elaborate what she was talking about because Vega had always thought that her best friend would forever  be whipped for Ignacio.
"I never have to question whether he loves me because it shows in everything he does. I never have to ask him to make time for me, to take me out or to treat Leya the way he does but he does it anyways because that's the kind of person he is. I'm not saying he's perfect, neither am I but we're imperfectly perfect for each other, I don't know what it is but he just makes me feel whole." she smiles looking at the man who had managed to steal her heart in more ways than one over the past eleven months.
Vega smiles at the way her best friend glows and even though she's still hesitant on Dominic, she can tell that he makes Solana happy. She wasn't Angel's biggest fan but a part of her had hoped that maybe they could work things out if Angel would just get his shit together. She didn't send him all those pictures for nothing but Angel never got the clue and never came around asking for the information that she would've eventually given to him after pulling his leg a little bit first. Instead, the asshole had chosen to fuck his way through Vicky's girls and even had a run in with Adelita that Ez had briefly mentioned.
"What are you going to do about Angel? You know he's not going to be happy."
"Yo Stanford, we gotta go." Angel's voice sounds from outside the front door followed by a series of knocks.
"Speak of devil." Vega mumbles as she gets up to open the door.
Solana had moved to where Dominic and Rio were playing with Leya out of Angel's view. Ez went to grab his keys and kutte as Vega dealt with Angel. Solana wasn't ready to face him yet, she knew she'd have to sooner or later. She sees Angel's figure rush pass Vega and Ez before the bathroom door slams. Still tucked away in the corner of Vega's living room, she prays Angel just leaves as soon as he's done in the bathroom but those prayers fall on deaf ears as Leya screams out loudly just as he's walking by. Solana quickly takes her from Rio trying to calm her down but it's too late as Angel rounds the corner with Ez and Vega hot on his tail.
"What the fuck?" Angel looks around at everyone before him before settling on Ez. "So this what we doing now?"
"Angel, don't blow this out of proportion. They only got here today, nobody's hiding anything from your dumbass. If I find out you put your hands on my man the moment y'all leave from here, I won't hesitate to take my switch to your dick asshole. Now get out before Bishop calls." Vega speaks up trying to diffuse the situation.
Cataleya refused to stop screaming so Solana stands in an attempt to get her outside for some fresh air only for Angel to grab onto her upper arm. Rio sits back watching the shit storm unfold before him. Dominic is on his feet the moment Angel reaches for Sol and grabs onto her. He knew exactly who Angel was, they had never met personally but from everything Solana and Bishop had mentioned he had developed quite a dislike for the man.
"Suéltame Ignacio.”
“We need to talk.” Angel says pulling her closer to him.
“I know you heard her say to let go. I’d let go if I were you.” Dominic says stepping into their space. The edge in his voice told Sol that this wouldn’t end well for Angel if he kept pushing his boundaries.
“Who the fuck is this clown?” Angel questions looking around the room. Vega shakes her head because honestly, could he get anymore stupid?
It took a lot to piss Dominic off but when it came to the things or people he cared deeply for, it's like a switch flipped inside him. Angel grapping onto his woman and refusing to let go while she held on to their daughter  was something he refused to sit by idly and watch. Cataleya may not have been his child biologically but she was his nonetheless and he'd protect her at all costs even if it meant from her own father.
"He's my fiancé." Sol grits out glaring at Angel who drops her hand like he's been burned. She hands Leya to Vega asking her to take her for a walk, both Ez and Rio following behind her. Dominic takes his previous seat because the look in Solana's eyes told him she could handle the situation and that he didn't need to intervene at the moment.
"What the hell is your problem?" she questions poking at Angel's chest.
"You're the one who left and then show up here a year and a half later with another man who's apparently raising MY child! You don't get to ask me what's wrong with me when something is clearly fucking wrong with you. I thought I knew you Sol but it's clear that I don't." Angel spits out at her.
"I gave you six months to get your shit together Ignacio, you didn't. I gave you all of me for fifteen years and you didn't give two fucks because you got comfortable. What, you thought that if you kept slanging me dick I'd stick around? Everything I said to you that night you decided you wanted to believe some woman you'd been fucking over me, I meant it. Everything I said to you that night in the hospital, I meant it. I still gave you six months hoping you'd take the fucking hint and come sort shit out but fucking your way through Vicky's girls was way more important than being there the night your daughter was born. So much more important that you signed away your rights as her father over a fucking phone call while you were deep in one of those bitches hungover and high out your fucking mind. You don't get to tell me something is wrong with me when you can't get your shit together Angel. You're the one who fucked us up, you made your decision and I made mine. I have love for you and I'll forever be thankful that you gave me that amazing baby girl but that's it Angel."
It hurt, Angel couldn't lie and say that it didn't. The look in her eyes told him a lot but also a little at the same time. She was no longer the woman he knew. He could no longer read her emotions but that one look in her eyes told him that she was permanently done with him. He didn't remember the phone call she was referring to but he wondered just how fucked up he was for fucking up not one but two of his kids lives. They'd never know him, he'd never get to watch them grow and it's simply because he was selfish and wanted to have his cake and eat it too. He had everything with Sol, he was happy and so was she even if they didn't have a label but shit changed when he met Adelita.
"I was under the influence, how the fuck does that count as me signing my rights away? I already lost one child, I'm not losing another. My child will not call that clown dad." he says pointing over to Dominic.
"You might be her father biologically but that's not what it says on paper and until you get your shit together, you won't be coming anywhere near my daughter." Dominic states smugly. He wasn't on her birth certificate yet but he knew that shit would knock Angel of his high horse a bit.
"The fuck are you even doing here? This doesn't concern you." Angel says pointing between him and Sol. "As far as I'm concerned, you're just a rebound fuck. Sooner or later she's gonna come right back where she belongs and I won't hesitate to put a bullet in your skull."
Dominic stands and walks over to the both of them. "And yet still…I'm the one who put a ring on her finger and the one your daughter's gonna call dad. I already won, thanks to you." he smirks before turning to Solana and presses a kiss to her cheek. "I'll be outside, don't hesitate to break his nose if he gets out of line."
Angel waits for Dominic to exit the front door before he speaks. "Are you seriously going to marry him?"
"Si."
"Why querida? And don't tell me it's because you love him."
"Loving him is not the only reason why I agreed to marry him Angel."
"Then why?!" he shouts. "Did you even love me or was that all a lie just like you lied about Adelita's baby not being mine?" Once again Angel isn't expecting the slap that he collects as soon as he finishes his sentence.
"I'm a lot of things but a liar isn't one of them and you know it Ignacio. I get it, you're looking for someone to blame but I refuse to let you use me as your punching bag. Get your shit together before you lose everyone around you the way you did with me. Potter may have told you that Adelita's baby is a Reyes but that baby is not your Angel and it's not Ez's so don't even go there. Don't look at me like that either."
"Then which Reyes is it huh? My pops?"
"That's not my story to tell but what I'll say is, once the truth comes to light…you're gonna look back and regret this very moment. I guess love really does make you blind. Look what it did to me." she chuckles lightly. "you never loved me Angel, you loved the thought of me because I was easily accessible to you. That man out there," she points towards the front door walking closer to Angel leaning in close to his ear. "…he loves me unconditionally, always puts my daughter and I first. I never have to question where his loyalty lies  and while we've had our unpretty moments…I won't hesitate to put a bullet in your skull the next time you threaten my husband." Solana pats his cheek and fixes his kutte before picking her baby bag up and walking to the front door where she stops and turns to look at him.
"Don't make me your enemy Ignacio."

People Person - Lewis Tan x Reader...
Tumblr media
So this is a little drabble that is based off of something myself, @dc41896 and @my-rosegold-soul were saying about Mr Tan.
Pairings: Lewis Tan x Reader
Note reader is POC in this and all my fic’s.
Warnings: None, just a cute little drabble with Lewis
*****************************************************************************************************
Lewis knows everyone.
He knows everyone in LA. Everyone is Bangkok. Everyone in Thailand. Everyone in Shang-hi. Everyone in New York. London. Paris. You’re pretty sure he knows everyone, in every city of the world.
While it’s sweet that he takes the time to stop and talking to everyone and anyone, it sometimes gets in the way of simple tasks. Like going out to eat.
Rather than staying cooped up in the hotel room you and Lewis manage to get out of the tangled bed sheets, shower and get dressed. You suggest exploring the city streets at night for something to eat rather than room service. You’d been too busy making up lost time with Lewis that you hadn’t eaten since you boarded the plane almost 12 hours before and you were starting to get hangry.
“I know just the perfect spot” Lewis smiles, as he hugs you in the lift. His grin relieves your face of the hangry frown. You’re excited now, because apart from knowing everyone, everywhere. Lewis also knows every restaurant, everywhere.
As you wonder the streets to your destination Lewis walks with you tucked under his arm pointing out to places and spots along the way, telling you a story or a fact. You snap some pictures too. The sights, Lewis, you & Lewis. You need to show your friends some pictures, rather than just the hickey’s on your skin.
After waiting a while to snap a picture with less people and more of what Lewis has pointed out to you, you turn to find Lewis further down the street. He’s embracing another person. And when they separate, they look equally shocked and excited to see each other. Your picture done, you catch up to them both.
“Dude! How long has it been, like forever!” Lewis exclaims taking off his sunglasses as if he cannot believe the person standing in front of him is real.
The guy chuckles as he shakes his head. They launch into a game of tag with stories and old memories, you gain more knowledge about Lewis. Sharing the laughter.
Lewis is cute when he is excited, more animated, eyes wide, hands waving around as he talks. He also gets forgetful.
“Oh crap, sorry, this is my girlfriend y/n. Y/n this is Adam” Adam softly shakes your hand as you exchange “Hello’s”.
Adam and Lewis both disappear into conversation, and your stomach growls. It’s so loud you’re surprised neither guys hear it, even over the night time noise.
Not wanting to be rude and abruptly interrupt you slowly move closer to Lewis, who while telling Adam a recent casting story, slips his arm around your waist as you slip your arm around his.
“You gotta see this” Adam pulls out his phone, unlocks his screen and proceeds to play a video. With his arm still around your waist Lewis leans in closer to Adam, leaving space for you too. You don’t really pay attention. Instead to lightly tug on Lewis’ jacket, like an impatient child wanting their parent to stop talking to whoever they have just bumped into. You lean in, closer to Lewis. “I’m hungry” you whisper into his ear.
Adam’s phone suddenly rings, the video being replaced with a colorful screen with a vibrating icon of a phone receiver, he excuses himself to take the call.
“I don’t want to be that annoying girlfriend but when can we go eat. I’m literally about to faint” Lewis chuckles deeply, his fingers slipping under you jacket and top to rub against your skin.
“You can even invite Adam, he seems to have some interesting stories I’d like to hear” you grin.
“You’d love that wouldn’t you” Lewis grabs a quick kiss from you turning his attention back to Adam as he says ‘Goodbye’ to whoever called him.
“Adam were about to grab something to eat, you wanna join? Y/n is dying to hear some more stories” Lewis offers.
Adam turns to you with grin. “Do you know about the time Lewis ended up naked in front of a group of over 75’s for one of those still life drawing class having to explain that tattoo of his” Adam laughs.
“What! No” Adam’s face lights up as you laugh.
“Maybe not that one” Lewis blushes, tickling you slightly under your top.
“Maybe another time anyway, I gotta get to this meeting with my agent, but let’s swap numbers and I’ll call you tomorrow” Both guys exchange phone numbers and then you all say bye.
In an effort to dodge questions about the still life class Lewis whisks you through the streets to the restaurant, promising to finish his tour on the way back to the hotel.
Of course Lewis knows the guy seating people in the restaurant. You’re not even surprised when the chef comes out to see Lewis. The chef says he’ll go off menu for you both, and you’re not disappointed.
You’re stuffed, almost too full. You almost don’t noticed half the restaurant staff leaving when you and Lewis do. Night is dawn, the sky slowly getting lighter. By the time you both get back to the hotel all you can do is strip off your clothes and fall into bed. Lewis hangs the do not disturb sign on the door, and you sleep until just gone 10am, but don’t actually leave the bed until past noon.

It was a quiet day at the White Bone infirmary. As it usually was. It was so quiet, in fact, that the Healer in charge of the infirmary had decided to go take a walk through the gardens. Leaving her apprentice and daughter as the only soul in the place for the thirty minutes she said would be gone. The daughter grinned as she watched her mother leave with a smile on her usually solemn and serious face.
She wasn’t going for a walk through the gardens to clear her head. She was going to see her father. A Chau Clipper that could never marry, but had chosen to have a lifelong secret lover in the Master Healer of White Bone. If they were ever caught — they would both be killed. Something that had been explained to their daughter from an early age so she knew how important it was to not say anything.
The daughter looked after her mother and wondered if she would ever find a love like that. A love that was worth dying for.
It was a hot summer day. The windows to the infirmary were all open to try and let some form of breeze waft through the place. But so far, she had been unlucky. It was hot and stuffy inside and she longed to be by the little creek that ran along the back of White Bone’s grounds. Where the water was cool and refreshing around her ankles and she was far away from the scrutinizing eyes of the Chaus.
To stave off the heat, her best idea was to keep moving. At least then she would have an excuse for being so sweaty. She perused the many shelves of the infirmary stores. The vials and vials of modern medicines like morphine. Then there were the bottles and jars full of medicinal plants and mushrooms that her mother had collected over the years. Turmeric, Evening Primrose Oil, Flax Seed, Echinacea, and dozens more. Her mother's expertise in these natural medications made her the perfect candidate for White Bone’s Master Healer — mostly because using the herbs saved the Chaus on spending time and money on gathering created medicines.
She brushed her fingers over the lavender hung in the window to dry. It was nearly time to take it down. She had been learning the benefits of these natural medications since she could remember. Her entire life was spent in that infirmary it felt. Cogs from the manor would tell her that when she was a baby her mother wrapped her tight against her chest as she continued to work just days after giving birth. A Healer’s work was never done.
As she continued to stare out the open window, longing for the gentle stream of water and the sounds of nature instead of the stiff silence of the infirmary, the door came open with its usual creak.
Spinning around, she expected to see her mother coming back from her “walk”. But instead, it was about the last person she expected to walk in — especially on their own with no Clippers or family in sight.
“B-Baron Gaius!” she exclaimed, quickly wiping her clean hands on her apron out of habit. “How can I help you, sir?”
She had helped patients on her own plenty of times before. She was nearly fully trained and her mother’s trust was a seal of approval for solo medicinal work. But those patients were Cogs or Clippers — people of no consequence that she could joke about with and not worry about what they thought of her. But this….He was the Baron’s son for crying out loud. How was she supposed to handle this?
“Um — I have a…” He pointed lamely with his chin towards his left arm.
And it was only then that she noticed that he was holding a red-stained cloth to his upper left arm. He didn’t look pained by it, but it was a substantial amount of blood.
“Oh!” She jumped into action, gesturing to one of the many empty beds opposite the storeroom while she grabbed the needed supplies. “Please, have a seat, sir.”
Gaius seemed to sigh in a nearly annoyed way before sitting down as she told him to. He’d never been in the infirmary before. When he got sick as a child or got a simple cut on his finger, the Master Healer would always be brought to him. But this girl futzing about the storeroom with shaking fingers wasn’t the woman he remembered nursing him back to health all those years ago.
“Where’s the Master Healer?” he asked, leaning over to see her properly through the doorway.
The girl came into the room pushing a metal cart stacked with supplies — gauze, needles, sutures, antiseptic — and came to a stop before him. “Out. I’m her apprentice.”
She was lying. Or at least hiding more of what she knew from him. He narrowed his eyes at her. It amazed him how terrible she was at hiding that what she had said wasn’t the whole truth. He couldn’t imagine how bad she would be at lying. Her eyes shifted all over the place, not daring to look him in the eye, beads of sweat were collected on her forehead, and her hands shook.
Without another word, she took over holding the cloth onto his wound and he lowered his hand. He continued to stare at her — study her. She glanced into his face once and she instantly looked away, her eyes widening in either fear or embarrassment.
“C-Can you please stop staring at me, sir?” she asked politely, quietly, as she removed the cloth from his wound.
It was a three-inch gash across his upper arm. It wasn’t too deep, but it would need stitching in order to heal properly. The sleeve of his dress shirt was slashed through and the blood was already beginning to clot.
“Can you stop calling me sir?” Gaius asked back.
This made her eyebrows furrow. “Sorry. That’s um…That’s what I was told to call you. If-If I ever had to speak to you.”
He sighed, remembering himself. “Sorry for staring. You just — Seem nervous.”
“You’re the Baron’s son. How am I not supposed to be nervous?” She set down the bloodied cloth on the metal cart. “Take your shirt off, please. It’s in the way.”
“But you grew up here, right? I’ve seen you around.” He began undoing the buttons. “Surely you’d be used to us by now?”
Gaius winced when he went to shrug the torn shirt off.
“Here.” She quickly came in to help, leaning close to help him pull the shirt off his arms.
Once it was completely off she gently set it aside for him to put back on later, then moved to stand on his left side. With his movement, the clots that kept the blood at bay broke free, causing a new stream of crimson to run down his skin. She grabbed a clean cloth and applied pressure, lifting his arm above his head to slow the bleeding enough for it to be properly cleaned.
“You’re right,” she finally spoke, “I have lived here all my life. But I’ve never spoken to one of you Barons before. Guess I was just…Never in the same place.”
“That’s rather impressive,” Gaius said.
“I’m pretty good at avoiding people I don’t want to interact with.” She shrugged, slowly lowering his arm back down and removing the cloth.
The bleeding had stopped. She wetted yet another rag with the warm water she had brought and began to clean the wound. He didn’t flinch.
“But from what I’ve heard — “ She glanced into his face again. The House Cogs were right. He was handsome. “You’re one of the nicer ones.”
He chuckled. “Glad to hear I have such a glowing reputation.”
He wasn’t looking at her, but she smiled at him. Small and shy. He was quite different than she had imagined he would be. She had heard the Cogs stories about how he was kind to them — even helped a few of them escape. But those were rumors she didn’t dare put any faith in. Just in case they turned out to be false and he was just as cruel as the rest of his family. She had never met him, how was she to know? All she knew of the family that ran Chau territory was what she saw of them as they walked around their manor and their grounds. From what she observed, it wasn’t very good.
“So,” she sighed, feeling much more comfortable now, as she picked up the needle and sutures, “How’d this happen?”
“Why do you wanna know?”
“I like to keep a little journal of all the dumb stuff people have done to get themselves hurt,” she joked with a lopsided smile, “I’m just asking Baron Gaius. If it was silent in here any longer I don’t think I could stand it.”
“Just Gaius, please.”
She continued working on his stitches as she spoke. “So, Gaius, how’d this happen?”
“Training with the Colts. I guess I — uh — pissed one of them off. While sparring we’re supposed to use fake swords so we don’t hurt each other too badly. My partner brought in his real sword and slashed me.”
“How long did you make it? Fake against real steel?”
“Awhile.” He lifted his brows as he thought. Almost like he was impressed with himself. “We would have kept going if the Clippers hadn’t split us up after he got me.”
She pulled the last suture tight and set the needle down. Her eyebrows were furrowed again, this time in something akin to worry. “And the boy who slashed you? What will become of him?”
Gaius’s face fell. “I don’t know. Something horrible no doubt.”
“You think they’ll kill him?”
“I would like to hope not,” he laughed shortly, which gave way to a deep frown, “But….My family isn’t known for mercy.”
She began wrapping his closed wound in gauze to catch the last of the bleeding and keep out debris. Her brow was still furrowed. Buckled in on itself, creating a small mountain between her eyebrows. Gaius wanted to stamp it out with his thumb. Make her laugh or smile again. She tied off the gauze with a skilled hand then looked him full in the face for the first time. That hesitation, that nervousness, that fear he saw in her when he first came into the infirmary was gone. There was nothing but a calm kindness in her eyes and the gentle stillness of her hands still touching his bare arm. Gaius couldn’t point out why — but it was nearly too much to look into her face.
She was beautiful. Kind in her simple devastation. His mother once told him of Ancient World paintings that would bring men to their knees with their beauty. That millions would flock to see. She never told him that those paintings now walked among them.
“But you are.” She reached behind him and grabbed his shirt. “You’re all set. If the dressings get too bloodied come back for new ones. Do you want anything for the pain?”
“No. No. I’m fine.” He pulled the shirt back on and began to do up the buttons. “Um — What’s your name?”
Her eyes no longer shifted all over the place. When she turned, she made direct eye contact with him, a smile alighting her features once more.
“Song. My name is Song.”
_____________________________________________________________
Gaius seemed to find his way into the infirmary at least once a week after that. Always when Song’s mother wasn’t around. Somehow he always knew when she went on her breaks and Song would be left in charge of the infirmary.
The first time he came in was to change his dressings. Though Song noticed they didn’t really need it. She let it slide though, thinking his mother probably forced him to come and get them changed. Then it was only the second time that Song became suspicious that something else was going on. He came in because he felt he had a fever and wanted to check and make sure his nearly healed wound wasn’t infected. Song had told him what she would’ve told anyone else: You’re just being paranoid, you and your wound are just fine. This seemed to deter him a bit.
But he was back the following week because of a headache.
By the fifth week, Song was not only suspicious but concerned. It didn’t appear that the Baron was really being affected by any of these ailments. In fact, any time he came in she could give him a perfect bill of health. But he was a member of the ruling house that she served, so it was her duty to provide the cures that she could. Though she felt the herbs for his headaches, and the bandages for his small cuts were wasted on him. However, she had to admit, it was nice to have him around. To talk to him, laugh with him. Just to see his face was the high point of her week amongst days and years that had been filled with nothing but training with her mother — or training with her father.
One day, Song’s concerns became too evident. She always had been accused of wearing her heart on her sleeve. But then again, it was only ever her mother who noticed these emotions she claimed her daughter so easily gave away.
“Something is bothering you,” her mother pointed out as they remade the beds.
Song was quick to reply. “No. No. Nothing is wrong.”
“You are my daughter — I can tell when something is wrong.” She put down the clean linens and lifted that single brow that somehow always made Song explode with her woes.
But this time, she wasn’t going to tell her everything.
“There’s a boy — “
“A boy? Is it that nice House Cog Percy?” her mother instantly asked.
“No.” Song shook her head. “He comes in nearly every week with some injury or sickness…But nothing is ever really wrong with him. I don’t really understand what’s going on…Maybe there’s something wrong with him that I’m not seeing? Should I ask him to come in when you’re here so you can — ? What?”
Song finally caught the way her mother was looking at her. With a smirk on her face.
“He is fine. Nothing is wrong with him.”
“How do you know that? You’ve never examined — “
“I don’t need to.” She moved across the room and took Song’s hands. “The boy is faking these ailments so he can see you, darling.”
Song blinked stupidly. “He’s what?”
“He wants to see you,” her mother repeated on a chuckle, letting go of her hands and getting back to work on making the beds, “But he doesn’t see a way how to outside of this infirmary. Next time he’s here, invite him to come with you to that little creek you love so much.”
Song picked up a sheet and tucked it into place with a sigh. That sounded nice. Being with Gaius alone. Really alone. Without the fear that someone could walk in on them. Though she barely understood why that was something that she craved at all. She boiled it down to the fact that he was actually friendly to her. That he was actually interested in her story, in just her — outside of her ability to heal him. It had nothing to do with the fact that she looked forward to him coming every week, her heart fluttering in her chest in anticipation of seeing him. Nothing to do with the fact that in his presence she somehow felt more herself, more whole, than she ever had before. But —
“I can’t do that,” Song muttered.
“And why not?”
Song had never been capable of lying to her mother. Though she feared how she would react to the boy who wanted to see her so desperately being the Baron’s son.
“Because we’re both so busy,” she tried her hand at lying anyway.
Her mother put her hand on her hip and raised that eyebrow once more. “Song Page — Do not lie to your mother.”
“Ugh, how can you tell? Every time!” Song stamped her foot.
“I’m not telling.” She smirked. “Now tell me why you can’t see this boy.”
Song stared at her for a moment. Her entire face twitching in an effort to control her expression — to keep herself from exploding with all the things she had been hiding from her mother for weeks. In the end, it made her look like she was about to burst into tears or into a full sprint away from the infirmary. She gripped the sheets in her hands tightly, knuckles going tense and aching she held them so tightly. But what was it that she feared in telling her mother about Gaius? She knew her mother would never betray the information to the Chaus. Her entire life she had been keeping a secret love from her Barons.
Telling her would make it all the more real for Song. Instead of an abstract thought or a daydream, it would be a solid, concrete idea in her mind. That maybe Gaius was something more than the Baron’s son who frequented the infirmary.
“Darling, what is it?” Her mother moved back across the room and placed her comforting hands on her shoulders. “What is going on?”
“It’s Gaius Chau,” Song whispered, “He’s the boy.”
Her mother’s grip on her softened and her concerned expression fell into one of shock. “Oh, dear. That’s a bit of a predicament.”
“What am I supposed to do?”
“Do you like him?”
“I don’t know.” Song shrugged as she dropped her chin to her chest. “At this point, I’m just confused. All I did was patch up a gash on his arm and send him on his way!”
“Well, clearly, the boy has taken a liking to you for patching him up and sending him on his way.” Her mother put a hand to her mouth as she thought. “But it’s not smart to get involved with the Barons. Especially the Chaus. Just — Just let it run its course. He’ll leave it alone eventually I’m sure. Grow disinterested or more interested in something else.”
“Right. Okay.”
But, if anything, he only became more determined to see her. His visits, instead of once a week, were now occurring almost every single day. And Song continued to play along and act nice — giving him whatever medications he claimed he needed — because she didn’t want to get in trouble with the Barons.
That wasn’t the whole truth though. It wasn’t just because she didn’t want to get in trouble with the Chaus. It was because she really didn’t want to stop seeing him. He was kind, intelligent, witty, and brave. He told her stories of his little adventures outside the walls of White Bone that she had never left in her entire life. He gave her shells and beautifully colored rocks because she told him about her collection only once. He helped her lift heavy crates of supplies and adjust bedridden patients. And more importantly, he made her feel like she was more. More herself, more than she ever dreamed she could be. He made her heart ache in her chest like it longed to leap out of her and into his gentle yet calloused hold. At night, as she lay in her bed trying to fall asleep, he was all she could think about. She dreamed of walking beside the creek with him, picnics, walks through the manor gardens — time spent outside the infirmary that didn’t involve him lying about being sick in order to see her.
One day, nearly two months after their first meeting. It all became too much.
The infirmary was actually busy for once. A flu outbreak through the House Cogs meant that every bed was full — and even more Cogs were holed up in their small huts and in need of visits from their Healers. It was still blazing hot, and as Song ran around from bed to bed handing out mugs of steaming herbal tea and small dosage pain relievers she was sweating through her clothes. She was trying to keep a calm disposition, but even she had to admit she felt stressed. The flu was dangerous if it couldn’t be contained. Half of these people had fevers that they couldn’t break because it was so hot outside. And she was worried that some of them may die — especially the older ones who had been worked to the bone all of their lives.
And it was at that precise moment that Gaius decided to walk into the infirmary.
“Oh, I see you’re busy,” he said as soon as he walked in.
He reared back in surprise when her head snapped up to look at him. He had never seen her look angry before. It was not an expression that suited her well, but it put more fear in him than even his own mother’s wrath. She put down the wet rag she had been using to cool down a red-faced patient and quickly walked over to him.
“Yes. I’m busy helping patients who actually need my help,” she hissed between her teeth, Gaius stared at her with wide eyes, “Unlike the people who keep wasting my time.”
Gaius didn’t say anything, couldn’t say anything. She continued to look up at him, wet rag held tightly in her hand while the other held up her skirt. Her mouth was turned down into a frown. Then he watched as the frown faded into merely a thin line, then as her chin fell and she sighed.
“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that,” she said, lifting her eyes back to his, “But I really am too busy to see you today.”
“I’ll just — I’ll just go — “ Gaius pointed at the door and made to leave.
But then Song’s mother appeared over her shoulder with a wide smile. “Actually, Baron Gaius, my daughter could use some fresh air. Do you mind escorting her on a short walk to refresh?”
Song turned to look at her mother as if she had been betrayed. Then back up to Gaius who was somehow smiling at the whole thing.
“Mother, there’s — “
“I’ll be fine for the short while you’re gone. I’ve been doing this for a long time you know.” She winked at Gaius before disappearing back amongst the curtained beds of sick patients.
Gaius offered his arm to Song and she stared at it for a brief moment before taking it. What on earth was happening? But she didn’t question it for long. Her mother was staring at them across the infirmary with an expectant look. Gaius was smiling down at her with a twinkle in his eye. And it was getting hotter in that room by the second. So she slotted her hand in the crook of his elbow and let him lead her outside.
It was instantly so much cooler — even though the sun was now beating down on the back of her neck. There was a slight breeze that ruffled the trees above and the air itself felt cleaner. It didn’t smell of sickness and suffering. Song took a deep lungful of the fresh air as they began walking towards White Bone manor.
He noticed the way she looked nervously up at the house and placed his free hand reassuringly over the one tucked into his arm. “Don’t worry — we won’t get close enough for anyone to see.”
His large hand covered her's completely. And before she could fully appreciate or comprehend its weight on her, it was gone.
“I — I really am sorry for snapping at you,” she said, looking up into his face, “This week has just been…A lot.”
“I can tell. My sister told me that there was an outbreak amongst the Cogs. But she made it sound like it was trivial.”
“It would be to her.” Song snapped her mouth shut at the remark, knowing it was improper to speak of her Baron in such a way, especially in front of that Baron’s brother. But when she glanced up at him he was smiling, encouraging her to continue to speak her mind. “When a Cog gets sick they can’t isolate because of the packed living conditions. The sickness spreads fast and pretty soon the infirmary looks like that. And we don’t exactly have enough remedies to go around.”
Gaius seemed to ponder for a moment. Then he said, “I’ll speak to my sister about improving the Cogs' living conditions.”
“She won’t listen,” Song scoffed, “As long as they’re doing what they’re told she doesn’t care how they live. If anything she would want their living conditions to be worse to — satiate her need to observe human suffering.”
Her eyes widened, realizing what she just said.
“I am so sorry.”
But Gaius laughed. Laughed so hard it brought a tear to his eye. They turned into the small forest that abutted the back of the infirmary.
“No — no.” The last of his chuckles escaped him as he spoke. “There is nothing to apologize for. I-I couldn’t agree with you more about my sister. How do you think I should propose better living quarters then?”
“Well, they’re called Cogs for a reason right?” Song questioned with a furrowed brow, “If one cog in a system stops turning, all of them do. For efficiency reasons their living conditions need to be less cramped so that when one Cog falls ill the others don’t.”
Gaius looked down at her with a look of impression on his face. “Not bad. Do you mind if I take credit?”
“Not at all.” She smiled.
They fell into a comfortable silence and kept on walking. Pretty soon, without even noticing, they were at the back of White Bones’ grounds. At the little creek that would be so refreshing on a day like today. Song stopped them at the edge of the small but steep bank that led down to the stream and smiled up at Gaius.
“Do you mind if I — ?“ She pointed down at the clear sparkling water.
“As I don’t know what you’re referring to doing, I would love it if you did.” He let go of her arm and gestured for her to continue.
Song sat down on a nearby stone as Gaius watched on. She hitched her skirt up to her knees and removed her boots. Gaius swallowed when he saw her bare legs exposed. Sighing as she felt the grass between her toes, she stood up from the rock and walked into the stream. An instant relief washed over her as the coolness of the water flowed over her feet. She closed her eyes, letting the feeling consume her as she looked up into the canopy of trees. For a moment, Gaius wasn’t even there. It was only the sound of the forest and the cold water on her skin.
Then she felt someone standing beside her and she opened her eyes. Gaius was standing with her in the stream with a small smile on his face. His boots were abandoned beside her own and the Baron’s son stood barefoot with his pants rolled up in the water. How unrefined of him. The sunlight breaking through the trees rimmed his head like a halo. His eyes, that light golden brown that reminded her of the caramel sweets her mother liked to sneak her, seemed to glitter like the water below. Her cheeks suddenly felt hot. She chuckled as she looked at him, not really believing that they were there doing what they were doing.
How did this happen? How did she end up standing in a dirty creek with the kind Baron’s son? She continued to laugh as she looked away from him — unable to do so anymore.
To Gaius, her chuckle was a song just like her name.
_____________________________________________________________
Song had never been inside White Bone manor before. The giant white house was always intimidating and her mother had always been the one who was called to treat people inside. But Gaius had somehow convinced her to come inside. He told her that his sister and mother were away visiting the Baron of Agriculture and that he had been left in charge while they were away. Some way of telling the other Barons that their territory was still strong despite the death of Alexander Chau.
“A last test to see if I’ll be a successful Baron one day.” He scoffed as he led the way up the steps to the front door.
“One that you’ll…Pass?”
“I don’t plan on it,” he laughed then pulled open the door to the manor.
He gestured for her to go inside ahead of him. She performed a dramatic curtsey before doing so, pulling another laugh from his lips. It had been a blissful year since their first meeting. One full of laughter, long conversations, secret meetings along the banks of that small stream, and Gaius Chau now having frequent “headaches” that he needed to visit the infirmary for. And in all that time, Song’s heart became less and less her own. Though she didn’t really know it yet. Anytime he wasn’t around, she felt like a piece of herself was missing, a foreign sadness settling deep within herself. But as soon as he entered the room with a small gift in his hands and that wide smile on his face she could feel the pieces coming back together and the sadness lifting into complete joy.
But that was something that neither of them had ever put words or actions to. That sort of loving silence that didn’t want to break in fear that — once broken — everything would fall apart.
The entrance hall was unlike anything Song had ever seen before. A sky blue mosaic was painted on the ceiling. Gold crown molding and sconces. White marble floors and massive floor-to-ceiling pillars. A grand staircase stood before them, leading further into the manor. Giant pots of flowers stood sentinel in every corner of the hall, and at every door, actual Clippers stood guard in their crisp white uniforms.
“It’s — It’s beautiful,” she commented as she continued to spin around in a slow circle, not wanting to miss a single detail.
Gaius could only look at her though. A small smile quirked the corners of his solemn mouth. He knew what this was. This feeling that settled deep into his chest anytime he even thought of Song. A warm feeling that made him feel more at home in the house he grew up in than he ever had before. She was a melody he would gladly let play over the rest of his life. She cared about everyone, she challenged him to be a better man, she showed him that there may be more to life than who was Baron and who was not.
He wondered if he could now break the silence. Leave it shattered on the floor if only for the chance to whisper in her ear how he felt.
“Come on.” He gestured with his chin further into the manor.
Gaius led her through one of the many doorways in the entrance hall, nodding at the Clippers on guard as he passed them. He had made sure that the Clippers he knew weren’t in his sister’s pocket were on duty when he brought Song inside. If any of them had seen her inside with him, they would have surely told Juliet about Song. And then Song would’ve been turned into just another pawn in Julient’s game. And that was something Gaius wouldn’t be able to stand.
He took her to the room he knew would be her favorite. The art gallery. He had noticed the way she stopped to appreciate small scenes. The distant mountain views from their walks through the woods. A unique view of the Pegasus statues in front of the manor. Her mother stringing herbs to dry in the infirmary. If life had been kinder, maybe she would have been a painter.
He led her into the room with a knowing, hopeful smile.
Song came to a dead halt in the doorway as she looked around the room Gaius had taken her into. It was full of paintings. Beautifully painted snapshots of life from a different time. Men sailing on the sea. A poor woman washing her clothes. A host of angels descended from heaven to praise God. A man weeping into the lap of his mother. She moved from one painting to the next with the fervor of someone searching for something long lost.
“Do you like them?” Gaius asked as he watched her flick around the room.
“Yes,” she instantly replied, looking over her shoulder at him with a wide toothy grin, “You get to look at these every day if you want?”
“I suppose I do. Though I rarely think to do so.”
“Can I ask you to look at them once and a while?” she asked, her movements slowing as she took another turn about the room, taking in more details, “For me?”
“For you? Anything.”
Her cheeks flared with a sudden heat as she hid her hands nervously in her sweater sleeves. A natural habit that helped her feel that her bashfulness was hidden from him. But it never was. He could always tell when he made her blush and relished in it.
Gaius pointed at the painting at the back of the room. “This one is my favorite.”
It took up nearly the entire back wall. A huge painting of hundreds of angels amongst sunset lit clouds. All of their mouths poised to break into song.
She came to stand beside him and admire the painting with him. Her head tilted to one side as she took in the details of the strands of the angel's hair and the ripples of the clouds. It really was beautiful, she could understand why it was his favorite.
A heaviness filled the room as Song suddenly became acutely aware of how close Gaius was standing to her. Her heart stuttered in her chest. Her tongue suddenly felt too big for her mouth. Her stomach twisted in knots. In his presence, she felt more herself, but if she got too close she felt she could drown in him. Be all consumed by him. It was all too much and never enough. It was like her body was pushed to the edge of anticipation — waiting for something more to happen when he got this close.
Oh.
His fingers touched hers. Danced around her fingertips before finally settling in a loose hold of interlocked fingers.
Oh.
Her breath hitched. Her heart suddenly stopped and then went so fast she was sure it was going to burst from her chest.
Was this it? Was this a love worth dying for?

The Syndicate Initiation
Tumblr media
[I DO NOT CONSENT TO HAVE ANY OF MY WORK POSTED, TRANSLATED, OR PUBLISHED TO ANY THIRD PARTY SITE OR APP! IF ANY OF MY WORK IS SEEN ANYWHERE BUT HERE OR UNDER “Stories By Tre” ON AO3, IT HAS BEEN POSTED WITHOUT MY PERMISSION!]
Pairing: Dark(er)!August Walker (John Lark) x Reader (No definitive feature other than the reader’s gender is mentioned)
Words: 2,279
Synopsis: You are the newest assassin for the syndicate and August Walker is assigned to shadow you. Until he reveals your true mission…
Warnings: 18+ content (MINORS DNI), Dub-Con(ish), SMUT, abuse of power dynamic, God complex, rough unprotected sex (don’t be silly, wrap ya willy), gun play, knife play, choking, mentions of Trypophobia, post-Ethan Hunt fight scarred August, Breeding kink, Anal, Hyperspermia, & mentions of death/murder. (I will switch between August Walker and John Lark because both of them are his alias, but August Walker is the more familiar/known one)
“Go again,” August commanded as you tried to regain your breath.
“Seriously?! I’ve been at it for the past two hours, I’m exhausted.” You huffed.
“Oh I’m sorry, do you think the IMF is going to just let you take a break as you try to murder them? Especially with that weak-ass stance?! GO. AGAIN. NOW!” August bellowed, his voice echoing against the walls of the training room.
You sucked your teeth at him as you got back into your fighting stance and began demonstrating your knife-fighting skills. You flipped the shiny metal blade from your holster and gripped the handle tightly as you started slashing away, breaking the sound barrier with each violent, yet calculated stroke. As you back flipped your way to perform ‘the kill’ you paused as you realized you were staring down the barrel of a gun…August’s gun.
Your breathing was shallow as you could clearly see the bullet in the chamber. This psychopath could’ve easily killed you in a split second and you wouldn’t have even known. You looked away from the barrel proving what you already knew, August Walker was the one pointing his gun at you. What made it even scarier was that he was smiling, like he wanted to do it, but for some reason he thought hesitating like this would cause you to be more fearful of him. And he was right as your pupils dilated and mouth left ajar.
“You act like you know so much, but you understand so little. I am the least of your fears, Little Mouse.” August teased.
The sight of his face riddled with scars and burns sent shivers down your spine. You hated it when he called you ‘Little Mouse’ You knew it was a power play, and no one else in the syndicate gave a shit. If anything, they felt you should feel honored to work under the one and only John Lark, former alias August Walker before he was burned, figuratively and literally by Ethan Hunt and the IMF. They all presumed he was dead and he wanted it to stay that way until, as August put it, ‘the time of peace arose’.
“If you were more focused on completing your task instead of performing theatrics, you would’ve seen this coming and acted accordingly,” August said, holding the pistol against your lips, “Open”, he calmly demanded.
You slowly parted your lips as August began to push the cold steel past your teeth. You shivered internally hearing and feeling the cold metal scrape against the enamel yet he continued to push the barrel further into your oral cavity so that you could taste it on your tongue. Your eyes widened slightly as he pulled the barrel out slightly only to push it back in repeating the motion in slow languid thrusts.  If you didn’t know any better, by the way he stared at your lips, you would think the sight captivated him, maybe even aroused him.
“Now suck, or I’ll blow your pretty little brains out.” August growled in your face.
You began to suck on the barrel of his gun as he drove it in and out of your mouth. The safety was still off, your life was literally in his hands and the small smirk on his face proved that he reveled in that fact. Beads of sweat trickled down his face rolling over the ridges, in and out of the deep pockmarks of his partially disfigured face. He was a bit hard to look at, but not any more difficult than the other members of the syndicate.
At this point your saliva coated his gun and he had moved so close that he was standing chest to chest with you. It dribbled down your chin and dropped down to your breasts that were barely covered by your sports bra. With his free hand he reached for his belt but paused when he realized your knife was already pointed at his crotch. His eyebrows furrowed as he took his gun out of your mouth.
“If you were more focused on completing your task instead of performing theatrics, you would’ve seen this coming and acted accordingly.” You mocked his earlier statement.
August ran his tongue across his teeth behind his lower lip and chuckled. The second you allowed a smirk to appear on your face, August swiftly wrapped his large hand around your neck. Your airway was nearly cut off by the viper-like motion paired with an overpowering grip that he possessed causing you to drop the knife from your hand.
As you were gasping for air and clawing at his wrist, his free hand untied the drawstring of your sweatpants. You were unable to speak a word, all you could do was whimper faintly. Once August had enough space, he slid his hand down and massaged your folds with the fabric of your cotton panties. You became lightheaded as you were close to passing out. The Syndicate leader released his grip from your throat and switched to grabbing the back of your head.
“Don’t pass out on me now Little Mouse, you need to be awake so you know your purpose,” August breathed into your face.
The heat from his breath went straight to the growing arousal between your legs. Your eyes fluttered as your chest heaved up and down while regaining consciousness.
“My what?!” Your eyes narrowed at him.
August chuckled before he began, increasing the pace of his occupied hand. “There is a reason why you (italic) were chosen to be trained by me, why I had to keep you…close.”
Walker drew you closer to his lips. You tried to gravitate closer to his face to kiss him, but you were quickly turned around by August and slammed against the pommel horse that was in the middle of the equipment room. The impact caused a pain to shoot through your abdomen as you grabbed the bars on top to brace yourself.
Walker wasted no time removing your pants revealing your lace panties that barely covered your lower region. He smiled as he ripped them off without hesitation and used his thighs to spread your legs apart. He pressed himself against your exposed flesh, marking your wetness on his khaki pants. The feeling of his growing erection causes you to instinctively make a deeper imprint of your desire onto his fabric.
“Wha- what are you doing?” you whimpered.
“What we’re doing is creating the next recruits of The Syndicate. A legacy.” August sighed as he pulled himself out of his pants and rubbed his tip against your lubricated folds, grazing your clit as he did it.
You moaned as he kept teasing you mercilessly, the lewd sounds becoming louder and louder until he fully sheathed himself inside of you. He growled as your warm, wet cavern gripped him tightly, his palms digging into your waist as he began thrusting roughly. The jerking motion made you hold onto the pommel rails even tighter to brace yourself.
